> Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Mix in the vanilla, buttermilk, vinegar, and food colouring.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Careful not to overmix.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  8. Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, watching carefully. Cookies are done when edges are set but tops still look slightly soft, don't overbake.
  10. Let cool for 5 minutes on a tray before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Serve and enjoy!
